Celestite

2 pieces on the garden wall

2 pieces on the garden wall

I haven’t written about stones for awhile, always kind of letting them decide who and when. They have been unpacked and cleansed and settling in for a few weeks now. Today when I went in to the healing space to strip the bed, I heard Celestite ask to move off the window sill, letting me know that they did not like it there. So, I asked them where, and like an orchid… in the light, but not direct light, now for these beauties. I asked if they wanted to be my subject of a writing. I felt their response was joy, so here goes.

Celestite resonates with both water and wind elements, aligning with 5th, 6th, 7th, chakras and all etheric chakras above the head. Found in the interior of geodes, or in clusters, this heavenly blue stone is associated with the celestial realms. An important stone for these times, celestine has within it the energy to accompany human consciousness into higher realms, where we can experience the vastness of the sky, free from thoughts and concerns of our physical life here on earth. Its gentle energy and ice blue ray offers deep peace and embodies tranquility, allowing our mind to transcend into upper levels of being. There is a quiet strength in the message celestine brings. It tells us, if we can open our minds to the vastness of spirit, we will be supported through the difficulties of our time in “earth school”. Placed on the third eye, Celestine opens us to possibilities of a new blueprint for peaceful existence on our planet…one that can be made real in the physical world. This sparkling ally is a perfect stone for awakening the visionary aspect of who we truly are, and showing us our divinity. We begin to “see” heavenly messages for us out in the world. With this stone in hand, an envisioning awareness is activated and is available for creating solutions to problems, personal and planetary. Restoration of harmony is possible and we feel uplifted by celestite’s energy in these challenging times.

At the same time it provides strong personal security as we move dimensionally from lower levels of thinking and more into pure being. We find flow is more easily accessed. As it is also a stone of communication, our abilities to connect with angelic spirits (especially the archangels), beings from beyond earth, and even our departed loved ones, is heightened when used in meditation, and is our intention. Excellent for calming an over active mind, this stone can be especially valuable at times of emotional upheaval. Celestite offers serenity as well as comfort when grieving, allowing tears to come, a release of emotions, and seeing the bigger picture. There is a strong maternal energy present in Celestite, which makes it a wonderful stone to keep in a child’s room, or anywhere, really. Maybe place a cluster on your work desk or by your bed (as it is also valuable to use in dreamwork). Pieces of rose quartz, amethyst, and celestine together create a triumvirate of love, peace, and connection to the Divine.

On the physical plane, celestite soothes inflammation, clears infections, and relaxes tense muscles or muscle spasms. This ally is also good for issues with the eyes.

Rhodonite

IMG_8548.jpeg

Lovely Rhodonite is an important heart and root chakra stone. It resonates with both the elements of fire and earth. Like other stones of the pink ray, it promotes the energy of love, but in a more outer directed and grounded way then others, due to its opaque quality. Rose quartz nurtures the heart. Kunzite or pink calcite are stones of love energy activation, preparing the way for external expression. Pink Tourmaline transmits the dynamic expression of joy from the heart. Rhodocrosite is a stone of self love, courage, and altruistic compassion. But rhodonite brings strong love energy into living in the physical everyday world, helping us perceive how love and joy can be found in our day to day activities. Wear or keep this ally in your pocket for assistance in maintaining a loving state of being in trying times. Rhodonite offers a sturdy, dependable support when you need to feel strong, but loving, or when navigating the mundane and/or challenging parts of life. For those with the tendency to give in or give up just to maintain peace, rhodonite is an invaluable friend that enables us to to stay in our heart while holding our ground, thus keeping us in our integrity. When we want to take a stand, maintain love, and channel the strength of your heart, rhodonite is the right choice. For these reasons, this pink and black stone is a true ally in parental, partner, and working relationships.

Truly a stone of power, Rhodonite supports us in perceiving our gifts and then utilizing those gifts to affect necessary changes. As a tool in the recovery of our inner gifts, rhodonite guides us to use them in benefit of our community and the highest good of all. It is a stone of learning and development, encouraging us to expand and perfect our skills. Rhodonite also attracts people and situations best suited for the application of our unique talents to experience the fulfillment of the deep desire to love and be loved. This rosy ally is also a good choice for anyone navigating brokenheartedness or grief, as it restores balance to our emotions in a loving, yet grounded way. There is also the heart/mind connection at work with rhodonite. Its gentle positive energy offers us the wisdom of not taking things too seriously, opening the door to experience delight in whatever mental or physical tasks required of us.

I enjoy this helper in my own life, and finds it often wants to be used in healing work. If emotions feel erratic or unstable, place it on the heart. Used anywhere on the body, this healing stone relays a love vibration into those cells and organs, powerfully initiating the force of love, which can be further directed by breath and visualization. Many things are healed, given enough love, and rhodonite is a powerful teacher. An excellent support for weight loss, detoxification and purification of the physical body, rhodonite stimulates and strengthens the organs, glands, and tissues, allowing them to purify the body more effectively. This ally is good for ridding the body of gall/kidney stones and supporting healing of the liver from damage, and also eases arthritis pain. Finally, rhodonite supports the flow of chi through the body’s meridians, directing it’s vital force to the endocrine system, supporting balanced energy and vitality.

Black Tourmaline

A beautiful raw piece

A beautiful raw piece

All the tourmalines are way up on my list of wondrous healers. I know I will write about each of them here eventually, but when I was guided to use stones, black tourmaline was one of the very first to call my name. At the time, I questioned my knowledge and abilities, unsure if the message I received was real. It was black tourmaline, also known as schorl, that assured me, told me to trust, have courage, and go forward. Any piece I hold feels like an old, wise friend and loyal protector. Keeping a special palm stone with me wherever I go, just to run errands in town or travel solo to other countries, I never feel alone or fearful of the unknown, but a strong sense of wellbeing. Black tourmaline resonates with the first (root/base) chakra, and aligns with the earth element.

Adjustments.jpeg

Honestly, I love all the black stones, obsidian, shungite, jet, merlinite , black kyanite, among them. There are differences, but a bit of common energy also that emanates from each. This ally I find to be a perfect companion to beautiful, bright selenite, which I have written about here also, in this series. Black tourmaline anchors us, deflecting any negative energies away, rather than absorbing them. If we feel we might be entering a negative environment or situation, it is a good time to use black tourmaline for creating a protective shield and neutralizing any heavy dense energies, whether physical or psychic. This black stone facilitates order amidst chaos. Likewise, this ally also reduces our own tendencies toward resentment, jealousy, anger, and insecurity pretty drastically.

Black tourmaline is second to none when we desire to ground spiritual energy. And it supports us in bringing our practice into everyday life. Feeling scattered, anxious, overwhelmed, or just off center meditate a moment with this stone in hand. Put in in your pocket or on your desk and feel its radiant, strong, calm stabilty. A perfect choice for use on the lower chakras during healings, black tourmaline brings the energies from the upper chakras into the physical body, balancing them with the lower chakras.

Often schorl can be found in clear quartz crystal, which is then known as tourmalinated quartz, a beautiful polarity of clear white and vibrant black working in concert…a manifestation of dark and light energies joined together in the service of healing, eliminating blockages in both the subtle or physical bodies. IT IS A DEVOTED SERVANT TO THE LIGHT, guiding and supporting us to remain a bright lightbody even the darkest moments. On the emotional plane we find this black ally is a true healer of the drama and the trauma that we hold, often unconsciously, and often affecting our physical health.

Various tourmalines in quartz,

Various tourmalines in quartz,

Black tourmaline’s powerful gift of energy transmutation on the earthy plane, assisting our own adjustment to a shifting electromagnetic field, and ability to purify, detoxify, and balance on the physical and emotional planes make it a much needed stone for this time in the world. It is a premier EMF protector, from cell phones, computers, and other devices. As it cleanses and clears out  toxins in our mind and body, black tourmaline also helps us become more consciously aware of what is needed to thrive and be in good health.

Moonstone

A selection of moonstone pieces

A selection of moonstone pieces

Though there are a few colors of this revered stone, all have association with the divine feminine and align with the brow and crown chakras (6th and 7th). I feel some pieces resonate more with the water element, and others more with air/wind. Moonstone represents mystery, the Goddess in her power, and enhances our psychic awareness.  With this stone in hand our intuitive gifts grow and we find we are more trusting of those “knowings”. Use it for lucid dreaming or as a tool for greater understanding and clarity of information shared in our dreams. Keep it by the bed, in your pillowcase, or wear it to bed, if you have it in jewelry. You may have read not to use this stone feeling  heightened emotions. I disagree strongly. This ally is a balancer of emotions, and its shining beauty restores emotional balance in both men and women. Helping men access their feminine more receptive side, moonstone leads them toward deeper awareness and communication of feelings, with a greater ability to listen/ “hear” others. For women, moonstone’s energy is supportive, calming and clarifying to our emotional body.

A soother when we are anxious or distraught, moonstone helps connect us to higher planes, allowing us to master our emotions, healing them by bringing them to our higher will. Then there is no need to repress or express. Moonstone stands as a high priestess at the gateway, helping us process our feelings and restore clarity to the situation. With this ally in hand we gain a higher perspective, see the bigger picture, our own place and purpose in life.

Second to none, moonstone assists our attunement to the cycles of life, within our own body, mind, and spirit, and also in the great spiral of life of which we are a part. With this nurturing stone, we can embrace a non linear way of thinking, increasing our wisdom for when to be patient, when to act, and to truly trust in divine timing. Use moonstone as a guide to self knowledge, and to clear the aura of any stuck or negativity in our energy field. Placing a piece of moonstone on the center of our chin (our “moon center”)and breathing deeply opens us up our intuitive and empathic gifts, and balances our emotions through all chakras.

Physically, for women, regardless of their age, will benefit from moonstone’s energy. It stabilizes menstrual cycle irregularities, assists with PMS or menopausal symptoms, and supports us in embracing where we are in our lives. For those desiring pregnancy, this stone increases female fertility and also aids in reducing water retention. Moonstone also is soothing to stomach distress and calms indigestion.

Here is a bit more specific information for types/colors of moonstone:

White Moonstone ~ representative of the full power of the full moon. Stimulates all types of psychic perception. Communication with higher realms and dream work. Opens the third eye. Empowers kundalini energy.

Peach Moonstone ~ a sweet nurturing and nourishing energy, encouraging seeing the positive in challenging situations. Awareness of divine love  of the mother. Soothing for sensitive people, especially children.

Grey or New Moonstone ~ Holds the power and potential of the new moon. Magnifier of intention. Assists us in seeing beyond illusion. Guide for journeying into other dimensions or realms.

Rainbow Moonstone (my personal favorite) ~ Increases the “clairs” and all intuitive perceptions. Deflects densities and provides psychic protection.Purifies the emotional body, soothing trauma. Infuses the aura with frequency of joyful grounded energy. Can also assist in Rainbow Body activation and empower us with Goddess energy.

Sodalite

Adjustments.jpeg

Having just written about the brilliant blue azurite, I follow today with the more commonly known and found, sodalite. This ally is another deep blue stone that has called to me recently, moreso, though I have always admired, and respected it’s power. There are some similarities between these two, but of course, each has its own very specific vibe. Sodalite has white veins of calcite within it (with a wonderful healing energy of its own), or  sunset sodalite has veins of an orange feldspar known as sunstone ( another important healer and energizer) within it. Aligning with the wind/air element, sodalite provides a stone with qualities of great benefit in healing work, be it personal or professional. Sodalite was considered to be a  protection stone in Africa. The Greeks and Celts considered it a stone of prophecy.

As with azurite, this ally is a stone of insight, resonating with the 5th(throat chakra) and the 6th, (brow/ third eye chakra). A blue stone of awakening, sodalite prepares the mind to receive greater intuitive wisdom,(“sight”) and creates an easy channel from the mind to out throat to use our voice of authenticity out in the world. Of all the blue stones, sodalite is probably the most dense, therefore grounding in its energy. With its frequency, sodalite calms and clears the mind, yet guides us to delve into paradox and contradictions within life, ourselves and others. With this stone in hand, we find an ability to better integrate ideas and differences within our thought processes, finding the necessary discipline, efficiency, and organisation for our earthy pursuits. Sodalite is a wonderful ally to take with us on our personal spiritual journey. With its help we can go deep into the subconscious and do the necessary work with greater ease.We know this may be challenging, but sodalite provides support for the dogged persistence and courage we need to “see” and make the progress we seek.

Using this blue stone, opens a portal to truly trusting our intuition in ways that positively affect our lives, releasing us from self judgement, and self doubt when decision making. This ally will show us our life lessons, and where we are on our path to understanding them. Sodalite’s groundedness keeps the magick real as we grow spiritually, keeping us unattached to ego as we progress. Want to detach, use sodalite. Need direction, use sodalite. Want to move away from over emotionalism toward balance and stability, keep sodalite near. Old mental patterns can be released more easily with this stone ’s energy, guiding us into the realm of more conscious thinking.Think of the white lines, as the light that comes through like stars in a clear blue night sky, or the orange lines as energy from the fiery core of the earth that brings us to a place of truthful, creative joy. Sodalite bolsters our faith in ourselves, supporting us as we work through any fears, guilt, or shame that still reside within us.

I have found this stone to prefer direct placement on the skin, on any energy centers or held in the palm to have the most strongly positive effect. Place it to purify the mind, calm anxiety, activate the pineal gland, release anger or any rampant emotion, focus attention, mediate. Physically, sodalite assists in assimilating calcium, balancing metabolism, cleanse the organs and lymphatic system, and reduce fever and blood pressure. This stone also stimulates fluid absorption, preventing water retention, and is an emotion and physical balancer for those that suffer wih PMS or menopausal symptons. Sodalite’s calming presence can relieve any conditions caused by inflammation. An excellent choice for students, teachers, writers or business people, this blue stones is a true multi purpose ally.

Azurite

Sparkly gemmy azurite

Sparkly gemmy azurite

This dark blue stone has been calling to me during at the last couple of weeks to help with some personal challenges, as well as sodalite, another blue stone. Because I have been using and exploring with them, I thought it might be the right moment to share some information about these two here. Today I choose to write about azurite, also known as the “stone of heaven”. Revered by both ancient Egyptians and First Nations peoples, this stone assists in contacting spiritual guides and raising awareness into a God/Goddess-conscious state. Azurite resonates with the fifth, sixth, and 7th chakras, activating them in several different ways, including achieving deep meditation, cutting through the veils of illusions/delusions, and giving a restless mind ease and clarity. Aligning with the air/wind element, azurite is a stone of true insight, intuition and an enhancer of vision. Azurite promotes the proper and accurate flow of knowledge available through consciousness, and heightens our connection with the divine.

With this ally’s guidance, we can see our own deeper motivations when the power of ego becomes involved, and shift our focus back to deeper truths and seek/work for the good of all.  Protecting us at times when there may be the tendency to be misled, this blue stone helps us discern the motivations of others (even when they can not themselves) keeping us aligned with spirit. This stone will keep us be truthful with ourselves and others, guiding us to face our fears, and supporting our will and courage to make the changes needed. A wonderful ally for lightworkers, mediums, and healers in general, azurite heightens our own psychic awareness, yet keeps us objective, non judgemental and clear. As a conduit for connecting to the six “clairs”, azurite is second to none. For moving energy through all level’s of one’s being, from the most dense to the most subtle, azurite offers its unique gift. This vibrant stone is certainly a catalyst for transformation.

A cabachon. a nodule, and a tumbled piece

In the realm of emotions, this stone helps keep us calm when discord arises, eliminating overreaction, frustration, and anger. When we are agitated, anxious, or aggravated, azurite is good to keep handy. An excellent choice for a student, or just a “student of life” because of its strong assistance when retrieving, integrating, and synthesising information, this blue ally also is helpful when memorization is required.

In the physical world, azurite supports flow and balance of the circulatory system, and is a great choice for health practioners, acupuncturists, or anyone that works with the body’s meridians. This stone also is a purifier of the gall bladder and liver, stimulator of the thyroid, and supporter of cerebral and nerve activity. For relieving migraines, and lessening tinnitus ,this stone is an strong ally. In a healing session azurite nodules can be placed on the body to remove blockages or congestion. As the energy penetrates  the body, the reason for the blockage or congestion will surface into the mind, revealing the causes of psychosomatic illnesses, that can then be addressed.

Tiger Eye

Blue, golden and red tiger eye pieces

Blue, golden and red tiger eye pieces

When we think of Tiger Eye, we likely see a opaque, but chatoyant banded golden and brown stone. We also can find both blue ( known as hawk’s eye) and red tiger eye, and I will return to them later, but I am concentrating here on the more commonly known one. It is a fascinating stone that carries a high vibrational charge with the two separate and distinct energies within it. Tiger eye’s two different rays, the deep brown of the earth/root, and the gold of the fire/solar plexus are balanced, in the hara or navel 2nd chakra. This ally’s frequency demands respect, as it brings the energies of heaven to earth, elevates and anchors them. As a supporter of life force vitality and balancer of polarities or understanding of perceived differences, tiger eye is second to none. This stone resonates with the first three chakras, yet provides great mental clarity, promoting imagination and opening to possibilities, while we still remain grounded. With this stone in hand, we feel enlivened and empowered. Tiger eye assists us when we need to persevere, banishing discouragement along the way.

This stone ally is especially good for releasing feelings of jealousy or envy. Mastering our emotions during times of turmoil and change will be supported when we keep it nearby. Wearing this stone against the skin, or placing it on the solar plexus for short intervals while laying down, is recommended when emotions need stabilizing. We can relate to the solar energy it holds when light is needed to look past the illusions created on the physical plane. This shining stone can help us regain our sense of well being, keeping us aligned with our personal truth. Tiger Eye provides the will to get things done when we need confidence, or are caught in a place of self doubt and procrastination. As an amulet, this ally confers courage, and promotes decisiveness without a cloud of emotions.

Physically, this ally balances mood swings, strengthens our immune and endocrine systems and assists with ailments of the eyes and ears. Because of its support to our positive outlook, tiger eye also helps those with chronic pain, recommit to living life more fully. Aiding in the absorption of nutrients, tiger eye is beneficial to all digestive processes and is a blood detoxifier and builder.

Red Tiger Eye is a true root chakra stone with its banded shades of red and dark brown that resonate with both fire and earth. This stone carries a protective energy, deflecting all but what is for our best and highest good. As an ally, red tiger eye assists us when are are feeling particularly vulnerable, or weak emotionally, reminding us of our personal power, yet keeps us well grounded. Helping us remember we are safe AND powerful, red tiger eye adds enthusiasm and motivation to our spiritual practice and chosen career equally. Need a determination amplifier? Red tiger eye is a good choice. Stepping into our truth, and moving beyond “survival thinking” of just meeting basic needs, and more into our deeper desires, finds real support in this stone’s energetic message. In the physical body, red tiger eye strengthens our muscles, increases our vital life force( as does golden tiger eye). This stone is known to improve our sexual drive when it is weak or waning.

A red tiger eye heart

A red tiger eye heart

Hawk’s Eye (blue tiger eye) has a blue grey to blue green sheen, with contrasting bands of dark brown/ black. It is an emerging power stone for the 1st/root chakra, but also connects  the 5th/throat, and the 6th/brow chakras, and resonates with air and earth. It offers a deep peace, acceptance, and healing to whatever our physical realities may be. Hawk’s eye is wonderful for working with “seeing” negative patterns that are manifesting disease. This ally symbolizes the hawk looking down from high above at earth, to see clearly all the occurrences and disturbances below, giving insight into the workings of 3-D living.  With this ally in hand or on our body, we can have the broader vision needed to create the life we choose. Hawk’s eye energy feels inspirational, letting us see and approach life from a higher perspective. Physically this stone also helps eye and ear, plus throat problems, and is excellent for headaches, especially migraines. Hawk’s eye used together with golden tiger eye form a dynamic pair of stone allies. Using all three of the tiger eye’s together are a terrific healing triad.

Blue Lace Agate

Blue Lace Agate

Blue Lace Agate

To the ancient civilizations of Egypt and India, agates were polished for decoration and considered to be lucky amulets. Evidence from archaeological digs has shown agates, along with other personal items back to neolithic times. Agates are a type of banded chalcedony (dendritic and moss agates are not banded), and are members of the quartz family. Although within the group these stones have many different uses in healing work, all agates have a common general  “feel” of gentle energy, that resonates on a lower frequency. There are many times we need nurturing support, with less intensity. This is not a flaw, but a gift from this unique stone. There are many moments when all we need is a slower moving energetic vibration to support our emotions and/or physical body.

Just holding it in the hand, blue lace agate calms and soothes. It aligns primarily with the element of water, and secondly to air/wind. This ally brings peace and tranquility to the anxious mind, neutralizing anger and worry, and stabilizes the body’s energy field. The 5th or throat chakra is stimulated by blue lace agate, bringing balance to both those that talk incessantly, and to those that find it difficult to speak. If we feel “unheard”out in the world, blue lace agate is a good ally. If we feel like we do not know how to express ourselves clearly, this stone helps us find the words we seek. With this stone’s presence, we have the courage to speak our truth without fear of judgement and also review more easily our own belief systems, understanding that it is with our words and thoughts that our reality is created. A stone of communication, blue lace agate also assists us in hearing others more deeply and clearly, especially when discernment of fact from fiction is needed. Blue lace agate is a fine choice for anyone that does lots of speaking and/or listening in their careers.

I have been using this stone myself, to calm inflammation, as it is a good choice for arthritis. Blue lace agate has also brought relief from turmoil and tension in my mind, due to events happening in the world over the last few months. I find lying down with this pale blue stone placed on my heart eases grief, or on the brow, eases anxiety. Add deep breathing and the heart releases, the mind stills. For those that suffer from perseverating thoughts, or children with the tendency toward hyperactivity or overstimulation, blue lace agate is calming. Children that have night terrors, or anyone with bad dreams, will benefit from keeping this stone by the bed or in the pillowcase to bring sound, peaceful sleep. The health of the throat, teeth, nose, mouth and ears are also supported by this stone ally. Keep it in your pocket, or place a piece on the area of concern several time a a day.

Hanksite

Hanksite sitting in the sun

Hanksite sitting in the sun

A day ago a piece of hanksite I have had for quite awhile “spoke up” to say it wanted to help with an eye issue I experienced recently. A piece of clear calcite did also, but that is a writing for another time. I love the energies of all the colors and energies of calcites and have used them frequently myself and with clients. Hanksite, a pretty unknown and fairly rare stone has always felt friendly to me, in an intoverted way, and just seemed to enjoy absorbing the light on my healing room window sill, and keeping that important space cleansed and cleared. But I listened, brought it home, and have kept it near me since.

Hexagoal in form and a transluscent grey color sometimes w/ shades of gold or green, this stone resonates with earth energy, stimulating all chakras. Because it is a salt (potassium sulfate), it will dissolve if wet, but also like all salts, it is a purifier on the physical and energetic levels, and excellent for removing blockages. Hanksite is said to be a "“Stone of Truth”. With this ally in hand, we can recognize falseness in others, know a shyster when we come across one, and see the truth hidden in chaos. Because hanksite heightens our perceptions, and shows us “what is”, it assists us in seeing illusions we may be creating ourselves. With this ally’s discriminating energy helping, we can differentiate between “wants” and “needs”, shedding falsity in our own lives for a truer, clearer view.

Hanksite brings harmony and groundedness when we feel restless and impatient, also drawing out old resentments stuck in the emotional body for release. The we are able to move on, growing toward love and compassion for ourselves and others. A supportive ally for taking action when we see injustices out in the world, hanksite can be transformative to out inner and outer realities. If we have difficulty in connecting to spirit, this stone is useful. A good friend when recovering from overindulgence, addiction, or illness, this stone is gently, but effectively restorative. A superior choice for detoxification on physical, mental, emotional, and energetic levels, across all dimensions levels, hanksite might seem a quiet, unassuming stone, but offers much.

White/Clear Selenite

Selenite sphere

Selenite sphere

A clear to transluscent mineral that forms when sea water evaporates, white selenite might be called the “salt of the earth”. As humans, our own saline blood naturally resonates with this delicate stone and its striations of high frequency energy. Existing on the border of the physical world and pure white light, selenite creates a bridge, allowing integration of the very highest levels of frequency into form. Its close association with both water and air/wind elements gives insight into how this “liquid light” might benefit us most. Although this stone’s effect on our emotional body is calming and stabilizing, it also strongly activates our spiritual connection to source, bringing a higher awareness into our “feelings”, creating a deep sense of peace. This awareness assists us in aligning our soul and heart vibrations or “higher consciousness” with our human emotions.

A selenite palm stone

A selenite palm stone

Selene is the Goddess of the moon. Her energy is felt within this ally, creating a direct connection to divine feminine wisdom. Our 6th, 7th, and soul star (above the head) chakras are quickly opened and energized when using selenite. With this stone in hand, placed on or around the body, we are safe from over-emotionalism, and may experience strong insight to our higher purpose, with support from our spirit guides, angelic presence, or other light beings. Using this stone with any others amplifies the qualities they offer. This synergetic quality is an important gift of selenite. When we need to detach from day to day drama or maintain the focus of our intentions, selenite links and balances the mind’s intelligence and spiritual “knowing”.

Small selenite tower lamp

Small selenite tower lamp

For meditators, selenite is an wonderful ally for clearing monkey mind, expanding awareness, and attuning with the divine. For healers, selenite is an essential tool. I use this light filled stone in most sessions at some point, to clear stuck energy, to bring in light and anchor it in the body. Often I use black tourmaline, another powerful ally (I plan to write about it next time) as a grounding polarity stone in this process. But it is important to be cautious around how much light energy any person can handle at the time in body layouts. Keeping selenite in our homes, especially near an entrance, or close by rose quartz or amethyst, is desirable. And this beautiful white stone is a wonderful choice when creating stone grids. Physically, selenite brings strength to body tissues, bones and teeth, soothes the nervous system, stimulates memory and facilitates cell regeneration.

Selenite, black tourmaline, and quartz crystal grid

Selenite, black tourmaline, and quartz crystal grid

Never put selenite in water for cleansing. Over time it would disintegrate. Placement in sunlight or moonlight for occasional recharge is enough, as it is self cleansing. I use plates of selenite to clear other small stones after use, sensing a “grateful friendship” exists in their sharing of space and energy.

When we use peach-colored selenite( also called red), it focuses the energy of healing on moving past emotional wounds, helping us look ahead rather than back in time. It also regulates moodiness, and transforms resentments or self shaming into acceptance and forgiveness.

Carnelian

IMG_6515.jpeg

On this hot July day, I feel carnelian has asked to be discussed in my writings about stones. This bright to deep orange, or brownish red stone is a form of chalcedony (within the quartz grouping). With its elemental alignment to fire, carnelian resonates with the first, second and third chakras, seats of our life force, sexual, and creative energies. It is a stone of creativity and courage. Rejuvenating, and energizing, this ally awakens our joy and puts to flight the difficult emotions of fear, jealousy, resentment, or unproductive anger, that may be holding us back. Carnelian instills witin us with the power of self confidence and constructive problem solving, all the while motivating us to bring our desires and dreams of a full, active, and abundant life into being through right use of our creative power and will.

This orange ally can help us birth projects we feel passionate about by getting energy stuck in our lower chakras energy moving again. It assists us in our desire to “know” ourselves at a deep core level, and can be a true catalyst, putting that knowlege to work in the physical world for our benefit, and the benefit of others. Carnelian facilitates our moving forward with purpose in a real way. With this stone in hand we can dispel self doubt, fear of change, or taking the risks we may need to shift our circumstances. By using carnelian to visualize our goals of whatever we want to bring to life, and through the process of manifestation, we can channel the necessary energy to get things done, and see them through from start to finish. If we are stuck in the dreaming/waiting mode, carnelian will roust us up, out, and into action. This stone is excellent stone for writers, artists, and anyone wanting to bring ideas from their creative imagination into being.

On the spiritual level, carnelian guides us in meeting our highest goals — those aligned with Divine Will. With this ally’s help, we more openly accept the changes that ultimately lead to our transformation, without attached anxieties. On the physical level, this stone always provides vital life force energy. Carnelian contributes to balancing the functions in the body’s systems, clearing toxins and removing blockages from tissues and organs, especially those involved with digestion. Also, this stone works to help us assimilate needed nutrients, vitamins, and minerals in our intestines. If detoxification from caffeine, alcohol, or drugs is called for, carnelian is a strong support through those challenging times. This fiery stone is also an ally in reproductive health and fertility issues.

Labradorite

IMG_6495.jpeg

Labradorite is special to me. Shortly after I was called to the work, this ally kept getting my attention in funny ways, “telling” me to keep it on my body or around me. All the crystals and gemstones I keep, have an energy or gift to share, but Labradorite brings forth one of my favorite things —Magick, both in receiving and sending/using it. It is a mystical stone resonating with all chakras, and aligning with the element of air/wind. This stones directs us to see the existence of multiple layers of reality, supports our relinquishing of the falsity of control, and allows us to access the hidden truths on the path to self mastery. Labradorite’s appearance is, deep and dark with flashes of blue, silver and gold brilliance, like a mirror, when held to the light — a big clue to the meaning of this stone. Powerful, penetrating to Source, where challenges can be brought into consciousness, and seen clearly, labradorite invites us to embark on a journey within of deep discovery. Expect a shattering of illusions when working with labradorite.

A stone of intuition, Labradorite creates a bridge to communication with higher energies and beings, stimulating our psychic gifts, such as clairvoyance. With this stone in your hand, we feel a deep protection, as it projects a force field throughout our aura, preventing energy leaks or attacks from outside that might attempt draining our physical or emotional energies. We may notice more synchronicities and a sense of timelessness with Labradorite, as it enhances our ability to stay in a place of higher awareness. With its help we see the bigger picture before us. We are able to visualize and express what we see and know to be true from an authentic place of wisdom.

This stone is a wonderful stone for healers of all sorts, doctors, nurses, therapists, social workers, and such. Also labradorite is excellent for teachers, aiding “seeing” into what is needed most by students, and supporting a stepping away from old tired belief systems. Physically, labradorite benefits any eye or neurological issues, (especially good for rebalancing brain chemicals) and is regenerative when one has deep fatigue. Labradorite also helps reveal the source and causes of illness that has been troublesome to diagnose, and then what is needed to get to the root of the problem.

Using this ally in ceremony or ritual work amplifies our connection with the unseen. Labaradorite puts us in touch with Great Mystery, enabling us to feel the pulse of source energy.

Amethyst

Amethyst from Uruguay

Amethyst from Uruguay

Recently I wrote about rose quartz as being attractive to many folks. But equal, if not surpassing it in familiarity and admiration is amethyst, with its high realm energy of the violet ray. The two make wonderful allies, and a great pairing for soothing the heart and calming the mind. As an amulet, talisman and for decoration, amethyst has been used for thousands of years in multiple cultures. Even before the Greeks and Romans, this stone was valued by European tribes, and in ancient Egypt. Found in many parts of the world, amethyst is not a rare stone, but a much-needed gift to humankind from the mineral kingdom. Its purple beauty aligns with the 6th, 7th and etheric chakras (above the head), and resonates with the element of air/wind.

Amethyst is wonderful choice to use during meditation. When lying down, placement on the 3rd eye is a natural correspondence, quieting our monkey mind, promoting tranquility, and allowing us to gently surrender to the silence. In this place of serenity, we can more clearly see what exists beyond our mental activity. Holding the stone in our non dominant hand also draws the energy of the amethyst up into the body. Because its violet ray clears out the 6th and 7th chakras, amethyst assists us with opening further into experiencing the six “clairs” (clairaudience, clairsentience, clairolfaction, clairvoyance, and clairgustation) more fully. With this activation, we can spiritually sense our “knowing”, our truth. The frequency of amethyst also promotes an ease in communication with our spirit guides, angelic forces and other light beings.

A perfect companion for those that are grieving, This ally connects us to our soul wisdom, and therefore to a greater understanding of, and acceptance of loss. Amethyst is also a stone helpful to those making the transition to assist with a peaceful release from the physical body. Because of its calming quality, amethyst is also excellent for folks feeling overwhelmed, under high levels of stress or increased anxiety. It brings us back into mental harmony.

With this stone in hand, we can more easily mediate our anger, cool off flaring tempers, and reactivity to life situations. Program this stone for support when experiencing recurring bad dreams or restless sleep, keeping it under the pillow or by the bed. Associated with the brain, amethyst is a great choice to help with migraines and other headaches. Placing Amethyst clusters, crystals, or geodes wherever we spend time lifts the vibration of the environment because of its high, sweet frequency. We can also enjoy wearing this uplifting stone.

Because this ally brings clarity of mind, it is an important stone for anyone working to overcome substance abuse or addictive behaviours, lending support to understanding the deeper causes behind them. Amethyst tells us to “let go and trust.” Its energetic mandate is to see beyond the entrenched patterns and current circumstances that may consume us, be humble, and take responsibility for our own transformation. We can be assured amethyst is there to inspire and co- create with us.

Rose Quartz

Rose quartz and amethyst are perhaps the most recognized and loved stones to the general population. That is no accident. And so I have hesitated to write on them, but when the rain began to fall today, a message came through that it was time to talk about this gorgeous stone that radiates so much positive energy… just by having it near us. There are many pink beauties out there, each with unique properties and guidance. I wrote earlier about rhodochrosite, and I will share later about many others of the pink ray, but certainly rose quartz deserves a special place in our lives and homes.

Perhaps rose quartz is the most essential stone for the heart or 4th chakra, as it transmits unconditional love energy for ourself and others. It’s element is water, therefore it taps into our conscious and unconscious feelings on a deep level. A stone of expansive universal love, rose quartz connects us to the truth of love in relationships of all sorts -- with our family members, life partners, friends, our community, even love for the earth and all her inhabitants. This ally also serves as a deep healer for any wounds the heart has experienced over this or past lifetimes. If it is difficult to feel joy in our everyday living, we may not have received the love we deserved as a child. We may have suffered as a result of many heartbreaks through time, and that lack, or pain, impacts our adult lives and relationships. Rose Quartz is an important teacher in these circumstances. A wise old woman, rose quartz sees and knows all. She gives us kind nurturing and shows us how to nurture ourselves, just by her presence. With this stone’s support, we can find paths to forgiveness (of others and self), acceptance, and crucially, a release of those primal imprints. There comes through us, a remembering, that we are love, and that the power source of love exists within us, always. With rose quartz in hand, we are reminded that it is up to us to break those generational patterns. Transformation happens when the power of love is present, and that is the primary gift of this ally.

Guilt, sorrow, and all the emotional burdens dissolve in the presence of this pink healer. Energy begins to flow through the inner chambers of the heart once again. What was restricted, constricted and repressed, opens to the possibility of fulfilment, inner peace, and contentment. “Let it all out. Let it all go. I am here.” is her message. Rose quartz stands witness and supports us. Now we can begin thinking through our heart. A wonderful talisman pocket piece, or stone to wear, a big raw chunk of rose quartz in our work and home environments is nourishing to the spirit. Just remember to cleanse and charge it regularly, by washing in cold water and sitting in the sunlight/moonlight. Keeping a piece in a child’s room provides a loving peaceful energy around them, also promoting a good night’s sleep. When having challenging discussions with those you love, it is desirable to keep this ally nearby.

In a layout on the body, seldom will there be a time rose quartz in not used as an anchor to whatever is else is being called in for healing. Physically, rose quartz also offers its healing energy to any heart related issues or diseases and helps those suffering the side effects of cancer treatments. This beautiful stone is also known for a positive effect for skin regeneration and improved complexion. Keep this soothing ally on your bedside table for peaceful sleep or in times worry fills our thoughts.

Citrine

Here on the last few hours of the longest day of the year, an ally reminded me of its resonance with the energy of the summer solstice. Recently stones with the golden ray have been getting my attention, and today citrine continues that trend. Much cheaper citrine, know as “common” is actually heat treated amethyst, appearing more orangey or rusty colored. It still works, but not with as much strength. Of course stones are heated within the earth, and irradiated, but natural citrine has a more powerful energy and is more yellow or golden, and clearer. Aligning with the element of fire, citrine is considered a stone of the 3rd chakra. But it also acts on the 1st, 2nd, opening doorways to activate these centers harmoniously.

This yellow stone invites spirit into the physical world, awakening our creative joy into higher levels of awareness. Working with citrine will lead us to greater dynamic will and enhanced ability to bring forth our desires and dreams directly from the clarity of our imagination. Citrine brings the power of personal will to bear and works for us— fostering clarity, imagination, and support of our creative actions. With this stone in hand, we see we are deserving of what we want, feelings of unworthiness dissipate, so we have the necessary confidence to initiate the changes or steps we want to take. And citrine helps us dig deep within ourselves for our inner resources, and persist, without giving up. Citrine say, “It is safe to be powerful!”

Physically, citrine helps us with out stamina, and energy levels, as it balances hormones and increases metabolism. Use it to help with digestive disorders, and urinary tract problems. The emotional courage citrine share with us helps alleviate depression and perseverating negative thoughts. This stone is an important manifestation stone, helping us get clear with our intentions, and decisions. The flow of golden energetic light surrounds us and fills us when citrine becomes our ally.

Magnetite

As you may expect from its name, this stone is a natural magnet. It is how the Chinese first developed the magnetic compass, and for centuries influenced adventure and travel all around the world. Associated with all chakras, and with earth is its element, magnetite connects them with all the nourishment that earth energy offers. It is equally grounding and attracting, so a powerful ally when working to manifest in the physical plane. Once you are clear on what you want, magnetite can assist you in drawing it to you. It aligns us with earth’s magnetic field yet connects us to higher consciousness energies, as a reminder that we are children of both our planet and Source beyond it. Keep magnetite near to alleviate distraction, filter information, and help us get better organized in the day to day.

This ally will also help us sort through our emotions and gain clarity, regarding all our relationships when we are feeling conflicted. A soother to the emotional body, magnetite decreases and balances hormonal fluctuations that may at times create chaos in our mood. It is a gentle, but thorough neutralizer of grief, fear, and anger - excellent for eliminating toxins from the body. Holding a magnetite in each hand can help balance brain energy, keep energy running through the meridians smoothly, and eliminate unproductive spaciness.

In healing work it is a wonderful stone for unblocking, releasing, and balancing energy, though a layout on the body is dependent upon what exactly is needed. Magnetite works in beautiful synergy with other stones. Beneficial during times of recovery, this stone adds strength due to its stimulation of circulation, lymph function, and vascular wellbeing. Because of its high iron content, magnetite supports those with anemic issues, or injuries that would heal better with enhanced blood flow to the area.

Septarian

This beautiful stone, also known as dragonheart, is a combination of several different minerals, foremost being yellow calcite and brown aragonite, but it also found with clear or white barite, and other influences. Together they create an ally that reveals and assists us in clearing away outdated beliefs that adversely effects balanced mental energy. Holding or using this stone, we can more easily clear these accumulated attachments, finding more effective authentic ways of communicating. Although connected to the fire element, septarian calms and balances fiery emotions release of these old thought forms, creating space for deep emotional healing. Because of its strong support for tolerance and patience, these repetitive patterns in relationships can be broken and changed.

Septarian’s alignment with the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd chakras, grounds us, reminds us we are supported and safe, and bolsters self confidence (especially when speaking our truth). As a stabilizer of all our bodies - physical, emotional, mental, sepatarian is second to none, and assists us with knowing our best practical boundaries in the everyday world. As with both aragonite and calcite, septarian is particularly helpful to the muscular/ skeletal system, and issues involving calcium absorption, inflammation, broken bones, muscle spasms, twitches, or challenges with energetic vitality. This stone is a terrific reinforcer of the immune system in general.

Rhodochrosite

IMG_6338.jpeg

Rhodochrosite is an outgoing giving stone that aligns with the 3rd and 4th chakras and elements of both fire and water. The optimism it brings makes it a terrific stone for those that feel lonely, or are in a sorrowful place. Rather than encouraging us to send out love like many pink ray stones, rhodochrosite directs us first to self healing, especially the inner child part of us. If we were victims to physical, sexual, or emotional trauma, the suffering/shaming may have caused us to repress memories or even pushed us toward self-abandonment.

These experiences are a huge drain on our life force energy. Rhodochrosite reconnects us to a sense of playfulness, and helps us rediscover our inherent gifts and talents in creative ways, bringing what was lost back into our conscious lives. The lessons of self compassion and forgiveness vibrate powerfully with this stone ally in our hand. Facing fears and healing these wounds are key to reclaiming our true authentic selves.

public.jpeg

Rhodochrosite shares one of the most loving and soothing frequencies of any stone. Wearing it over the heart supports courage and confidence when actions need to be taken. Kept it in a pocket, it will foster joy and that sense of magical happiness natural to children. Physically, it is a good stone for relief of tension during challenging times, anxiety, or depression, and generally beneficial for and nervous system imbalances.

Stellar Beam Calcite

IMG_4818.jpeg

These lovely stones are a type of dogtooth calcite known as stellar beam. All the various calcites are wonderful allies. If I had to choose but one stone to use in healing, calcite with its wide variety of energies and colors might be my choice. They are powerful yet gentle, cleansing yet restorative, helping move us through our old issues w/ friendly support. These stellar beams are associated w/ the elements of fire and storm and the 3rd, 6th & 7th chakras as well as the transpersonal/ etheric chakras above the head. Because it activates the higher centers and grounds energy through the solar plexus, stellar beam calcite connects higher levels of consciousness with clarity, focus, and will, linking the parallel realities of spirit and matter. This stone challenges our minds to think beyond self imposed limited awareness and conceive of new potential and possibilities. With a stellar beam in your hand you will find the courage needed to take evolutionary steps, and make the necessary shifts in consciousness to do so. Use it to confidently manifest your goals and allow your light to shine bright on the world. The golden beam is fearless and brings dynamism to our lives. They are wonderful to carry when we are in the midst of letting go of the false security of old patterns. In the environment they emit their uplifting energetic essence. Treat these calcite allies with full respect and use consciously and they will be at the ready. In a healing layout they may be placed either on various energy centers and used in concert w/ other gemstones and crystals. I particularly like to use them w/ black tourmaline and other calcite cousins. They are also excellent tools for psychic surgery to remove blockages. Stellar beams also assist us in aligning w/ our highest guides, angels and other lightbeings.

exploring the elements (5)–spirit/storm (and politics)

storm rainbow Greenbrier county

It seems a lifetime since I sat down to write. Although this has to do with Spirit (which I had intended to write about somewhat differently next), my focus has shifted. So much happened that called me away. The protests and events in the news precipitated by the murder of George Floyd, and all that has followed took and held my attention. It brought me into a space of personal reflection, feeling through how to best support the Black Lives Matter movement in my own way. All this has been on my mind and in discussions with others.

A fairly political person all my life, still in High School in rural South Carolina, I remember well writing in 1970 a paper for my English Class titled “Black is Beautiful”. I received an “ A+” and supportive comments from one of the two best teachers of my educational career. Place this in time, where there was not full yet integration of schools in my county until my senior year. Black families were required to sit in the balcony w/ a separate outside entrance at the picture show, and were not allowed in the town pool. My Daddy’s (Dr Wise) waiting rooms were designated “white” and “colored”, though there were no doors and everyone could see each other. Working for him in the summer, I learned the protocol was equality based. People signed in, and you took each person back to one of the three examining rooms in that order, no preference to skin color. I pretty much lived a life of white privilege, though I did not know it then. But there were people, experiences, and moments that formed a different response to the culture in which I was born. I read “Life” and “Time” magazines, watched the news, and thought about it. Several black students came to the “White School” as a transition, when I started 6th grade. Some were athletes, and we were on the same teams.I considered all my fellow classmates, and friends.

But I was not allowed to have black team mates to my house, when I wanted to invite Everyone for a post season party. After an argument that I could not win, I chose no party. Yet, Dr Wise served the entire community’s health needs his whole working life, making housecalls to families, both black and white. I went with him often, sat on the porch or in the kitchen while he saw his patient. It was clear he was fair and committed to healing all equally. But even as I child, I witnessed his own personal struggle with racism and its conflict with the message of Christianity. They were following the social/cultural norms of their community and we had a certain status in that community. I witnessed that my parents understood there was something wrong in all of it, but were not able to take different stand. I never felt they encouraged hate at any time, and importantly, they absolutely promoted education and thinking for ourselves.

My family had a black woman begin working for us from my oldest sister’s birth on through when I went away to college. Rosa Lee was a huge influencer in my life. A special relationship of unconditional love, and physical affection existed between us, unlike what I had with my parents. I went to her little house on the ”other side of town” when my parents were gone occasionally and, played with the neighborhood children. I looked forward to it. When I was a child, she was always around, always caring. She was the archetypal nurturer, though she had no children of her own. Her sister worked for my cousins and Lucille, too, was a beloved figure, as was Rosa’s niece that worked for my parents off and on, then again in their last years after she returned to retire from Washington DC to her hometown. These women were all extraordinarily kind, giving people during times that must have been difficult for them. And there was also Levi in tattered overalls with his blue black skin who sometimes did heavy work in my mother’s yard and garden. He let me ride on the back of his mule…a thrill for this equine crazy tomboy. He ate in the kitchen, of course, and I loved listening to him and Rosa Lee talk and laugh. They treated me like family. I saw and felt the disparity when I was young, but rural feels different. Not until traveling to the nearest city to shop, and my mother getting lost, did I see urban poverty from the back seat of our thunderbird. That experience, among others around the same time, affected me deeply. Together they brought inequalities and injustice into better focus, made me question and talk to my pastor, and strongly pointed me toward a trajectory of different thinking.

In 1968, with the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr and Bobby Kennedy (both heroic in my eyes) the Viet Nam war, pronounced civil unrest, as black people continued their struggle for justice, and the Mexico City Olympics. In that moment on the podium of fists raised in black gloves and bare feet, something snapped inside and I walked away from the part of my cultural roots that loudly proclaimed and quietly allowed for and supported racism. I did not return to my 10th high school reunion, because it was only to be a party for the white members of our graduating class. But what is writing a letter, and taking a very small stand compared to those with the foot of racism always on their backs from government and the oppression of separate and NOT equal in their own communities? By the 25th reunion, all were welcomed, my eldest son accompanied me, and it felt right.

Many died before George Floyd. Known massacres…Tulsa OK (1921), Rosewood FL(1923), Colfax LA (1873), Wilmington NC(1898), Elaine AR (1919), and Atlanta GA(1906), lynchings, police brutality again and again. I will not go into the history we were not taught, or the whitewash we were sold, especially as southerners, but informing ourselves is crucial. I wonder if folks who cling to the more palatable version are under the influence of deep guilt, and therefore cognitive dissonance is at play. I do understand that. Ashamed of my own southern-ness for years, I had to make my own peace with it. Racism exists everywhere we go, and has no Mason-Dixon line. One of my Mama’s last spoken thoughts was a wish that she had been kinder to Rosa Lee, who passed before her. She had come to truth of deeper understanding. Being able to say those words allowed her to make the transition ahead without regret in her heart, and with the gift of forgiveness awareness offers.

Yet here we are 2020, where the dark underbelly is being forced into the light. I believe, the ugliness of the last three years was created by folks fearing the loss of the power they know their “whitness” provides, the vocal racists still clearly out there, and a reactionary response to having an erudite black man for president. Fear exists. We know it, and it holds up a heavy m, hard hand to change. Now, we are having a reaction to the reaction. All is out there to be seen. This is an awakening of spirit. All the elements come together in Spirit, creating storm. Storm that cleanses and clears. The Power of Air engages our thoughts, our knowing, and collective values. The Power of Fire ignites our will, reminds us to take action, and create anew. The Power of Water mandates the deep daring required to face our feelings. The Power of Earth tells us to listen, hold all firm within us, and gives us courage. Spirit/Storm is the call to Activism, to be , to trust, and to even surrender to it. At the center of the compass wheel, but spirit can not be explained in any scientific way, as can air, fire, water, and earth. Yet it is the connector, a balancer between stillness and silence and the action of transmutation… change not only of appearance but of form.

Being the best human we can be, requires us to dive into the inner work, and also work outside ourselves in this world we were born into. Service and/or activism can take us forward in everyday ways, in our family, friendships, community, or in much bigger ways. When we balance the gifts of the elements within, the stillness of spirit and the moving cleanser of storm, real healing occurs. This is the sacred space in which we feel, find, and experience love of all kinds. Acceptance, forgiveness, also, of self and others resides here. Let us work to heal our own wounds, the ones that need a holyfire light to see everything clearly, and the burning passion to act for good of all. There are many ways to bring the change. There is not just one way.

We can take to the streets. We can work in political organizations. We can live our lives and dare to speak truth to power, and to those we know well, that still hold fearful/ hateful views. We can live our lives as an example.

Let go of white privilege as we come to understand it better. Stop being complicit in our silence. Have conversations. Ask questions. Listen, because we have lots to learn.

We can make a difference. Spirit wants us to. Storm clears the way.
